Iquitos to the lodge
Met at the airport, a short orientation of Iquitos and down to the dock. Twenty-five miles down the Amazon to Ceiba Tops. An afternoon hike in the primary forest reserve around the lodge, past enormous trees loaded with epiphytes, and after dinner a short walk to a lake where caimans and the night chorus of frogs and insects take over.

Yagua community and the dolphins
A boat to a Yagua community, where the guide explains the culture and what has changed, and the elders demonstrate the blowgun. In the afternoon, out on the river looking for pink and grey dolphins, and fishing for piranha — the Amazon holds more fish species than the entire Atlantic.

The canopy walkway

Anyone who wants primary rainforest
This is the Peruvian Amazon at Iquitos, comfortable and accessible, with more river than deep forest. For untouched primary forest, the Ecuadorian lodges on the Napo are the better answer and we will tell you so.
Anyone who dislikes heat and humidity
It is hot, wet, and there are insects. That is the Amazon, not a shortcoming of the lodge.
Anyone expecting our own guides
In Peru we work with the same Cusco and Iquitos ground partners we have used for years. We say so rather than pretending we operate it ourselves.
